Batteries
Batteries are components to generate electric energy by means of chemical reactions. The types of batteries include single-use primary batteries, secondary batteries that can be used over many times by recharging from outside, etc. Other types include fuel batteries that use the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, solar batteries that turn solar power into electric energy, and more; the wide variety is a characteristic of batteries. As with alkaline dry cell batteries and lithium batteries, their sizes vary by application. Batteries are composed of 3 elements; positive-side material, negative-side material and electrolyte solution. For example, the materials of alkaline batteries are manganese dioxide for the positive-side material, zinc for the negative-side material and sodium hydroxide for the electrolyte solution. Primary batteries have expiration dates, and they normally have recommended “best before” dates indicated on them. After those dates, the possibilities of performance degradation and battery leakage rise, but within the indicated periods, batteries exert their performance specified by JIS.
